Thorough research informed a series of iterative prototypes and user testing sessions, which ultimately led to the development of illustrated zines and a set of conversation cards.
How might we create resources that are able to educate everyone on the impacts of mental ill health?
The conversation surrounding mental health is stigmatised and isolating for many Australians, this needs to be changed. One in five people in Australia (3.4 million) saw a health professional for their mental health (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2023)?.
Mental health remains poorly understood in many communities, with conversations starting too late
Caring with Integrity exists to close these gaps and push forward a shift in how care is delivered and perceived—by embedding compassion, knowledge, and dignity into every touchpoint.
The process
This project included those with lived experience. This has be done with one on one interviews with six Australians who have experienced mental ill health or know someone who has.
Co-designing was an important aspect of this project as you cannot design for someone who hasn't experienced it.
Additionally, there were infinite options for outputs, however thorough research was necessary to really decifer the most common way people absorb educational information.
